FAQ’s
Do I have to be Lutheran to attend Crown of Life? While Crown of Life is a Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, we are open to all people seeking to grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Being Lutheran isn’t nearly as important as simply having a heart to seek Christ. If you want to learn more about Lutheran doctrine, we have a class just for this. But it’s certainly not a requirement for attending.
What is your practice regarding communion? If you desire to commune with us, we just ask that you speak with a Pastor before communing if you are not a member of Crown of Life. You may contact Pastor Jung at djung@crownoflife.org if you have questions.
What are the differences in your three services? There are three worship services to choose from. Our 8:30am service is considered our traditional service with traditional hymns and choir. Our 9:45am service is our casual and contemporary service with contemporary songs and our 11:00am service is our contemporary service with a praise band and contemporary worship songs.
What do I wear? Wear what you feel is comfortable and appropriate. We do not have a dress code and we certainly wouldn’t want you to worry about this! Some people wear jeans and t-shirt, while others come in “business casual” attire. Some people prefer to dress up, while others prefer to dress down. We are more concerned about your heart and your needs than we are about your clothing.
How many members are there in the congregation? We have approximately 970 members in our congregation. This number also includes children, which makes up a large number of our membership.
How do I become a member of Crown of Life? To become a member of our congregation, we ask that you attend our New Member class to learn more about us and our beliefs. This is a four week class offered on Sunday mornings during the 9:45am Bible Class hour. We also offer a class called The Christian Faith for new members to learn more about the Lutheran faith.
What is confirmation? Confirmation is a two year commitment for the 7th and 8th grade students. Adult Confirmation is offered as well through The Christian Faith class offered at various times throughout the year. Confirmation provides an opportunity for the individual Christian, relying on God’s promise given in Holy Baptism, to make a personal public confession of the faith and a lifelong pledge of commitment to Christ.
Where is the Sunday school class for my child located? We offer Bible classes for children ages 2 and up.
- Kindergarten through preschool is located in our preschool wing.
- Grades 1 through 4 meet in the EDGE Event Center for an opening then break out into smaller groups by grade.
- Grades 5 and 6 meet in the EDGE meeting room #2
- Grade 7 meets as Confirmation Class in the EDGE meeting room #1 (September through May only).
- Grades 7 and 8 meet in the EDGE meeting room 4.
- Grades 9 through 12 meet in EDGE meeting room 3.
- College Age meets in the EDGE meeting room 2.
What door do I enter with so many outside entrances? There are four main entrances to our building on Sunday mornings. Two are located on the west side facing Pleasant Run Road which are the main church entrance and our preschool wing entrance. One is located on the south side, which would be entering the EDGE building. The fourth would be the main school entrance, located on the north side (look for the “north” and “south” signs located on our parking lot poles). Once inside, follow the signs to your desired destination. Monday through Friday the main church entrance and the main school entrance are the only two doors that are open for entrance.
How do I reserve meeting space and is there a charge? To reserve meeting space, we ask that you please complete the Calendar & Room Request form available on line under the Forms/Downloads section on our website. Submit the form to Diane Myers, Church Administrator for approval. You will be notified if your request has been approved or denied within a reasonable time frame. At the current time, we do not charge for meeting space for non-profit organizations. Availability is subject to a congregational member being responsible for security and oversight.
Do we allow weddings outside our congregation membership? We normally do not have the time to counsel non-members but exceptions are made through the Pastors for those desiring a relationship with COL.
